Here Comes a Wave of Change for Cuba. Warming relations with the U.S. has an upbeat but wary island bracing for a rush of visitors from its Cold War foe. In May 2016, I traveled from Miami to Havana aboard Carnival's Adonia, the first cruise ship to sail from the USA to Cuba in nearly a half century. The number of U.S. tourists to Cuba is expected to rise to as many as 3 million a year. How will the coming wave effect Cuba's economy, infrastructure and environment. What will it mean for Cuba's culture, identity, and future? ©David Guttenfelder for National Geographic Magazine
